One day, Halycon Sage decided to take a poll of the town, all 539 of them, in order to gather some meaningful data. He didn’t want the poll to be too long, because the townspeople were busy doing all the things you have to do to keep everything going after civilization has ended, so he thought just one really targeted question might do the trick. Then he decided one question wasn’t enough to gather the insightful snapshot of the community he wanted, not a fine enough mesh to capture them, so to speak, so he expanded it to three related questions. He copied his questions on little eenie weenie pieces of paper and handed one to everyone he saw. He also placed a stack of them on the counter of the Dirty Dog Bar . . . err, the Canis Fidelis Bar and Grill, we mean. Here is the poll:
Halycon Sage’s Poll to Collect Meaningful Data on Our Village
- Do you really like the song Rank Stranger? (Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I16YOPmmZbs)
- Do you find it impossible to think of this song without thinking, “That stranger should take a bath!”?
- Do you have no idea what these questions are talking about?
We may have the results for you next time. In the meantime, feel free to take the quiz yourself!
Thanks for your time — Halycon Sage.
Preliminary report. A comment has already come in!
“It’s not a village! We’re out west! Where the hell are you from!” – Annonymous
Unknown. Unknown. And no.
Dear Garek, thank you for responding. Unfortunately, your last answer is somewhat unclear. Do you mean, (1) “No, I don’t have no idea what these questions are talking about. Because I aint got no idea,” or (2) “No, I don’t have no idea what these questions are about because that is a double negative and it means I actually *do* have an idea, which, in fact, I do,” or (3) Something else. The fact that such a small sample of humanity remains (as far as we know) means that we must all be extra careful to provide the most accurate data, as whatever we say will weigh millions of times more heavily than it would have before The Event. Again, thanks for your participation. – Unknown Minion, on behalf of Halycon Sage (who is definitely around here somewhere . . .)
